Hi again Terra Nova :hibye:
We all choose what we'll believe.
I personally, after long indepth study and a much closer look, found the WT/JWs to be no better than some others and that my professing them to be the best was false.
I sill believe the basics, like God doesn't torture people in Hell, just as I did before I decided to go along with the JWs, but I found that there are other churches that teach the basics also. Here's a commentary I recomend http://reslight.net/armageddon.html
"...Those who remain children of wrath will suffer destruction during what is often called "the Battle of Armageddon." Does this mean that the majority of earth's present billions will go down in eternal destruction with no hope of recovery?...."
Now on your thread title questions
Exorcisms: What Are They? Who Should Perform Them?
According to what I've read exorcisms consist of many different types and some use of different objects as talismans like the use of so-called holy water and a crucifix. While others use only prayer. It is my understanding that in the Catholic church certain priest have to be trained and authorized for it.
I personally think that the demons are mostly just playing games with the ones doing exorcisms. Though, according to what I've read, many of them get quite violent. Why would a demon pretend to be exercised? To make people think that certain people have something that they don't really have; that is power from God. I suspect that the demons get a big evil laugh out of it.
Then there is what Jesus said; "When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none. Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth [it] empty, swept, and garnished. Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last [state] of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation. " MT 12:43-45
Jesus had the power given to him by his father and Jesus passed some of that on to his apostles and they in turn pass some on. I see this power as getting thinner and thinner through the passings. Just like Moses had power and when his father in law suggested to have some men help him God told him that he would take some of his power and give it to them.
My guess is things are going to get much worse; that we are going to hear of/see much more of demonic manifestations. As people are getting into and doing more and more of the things that we are told in the Bible not to do.
God bless,
Sincerely, PPCM
