Good afternoon all ... I'm a wee bit earlier at putting up the text for today thank goodness ... :post:
Don't we all MISS iso sooooooooo much ... can't wait for your return my brother and friend ... :friends::cheer:
The text for today is taken from Ps. 25:14 ...
The intimacy with Jehovah, belongs to
those fearful of him, also his covenant, to cause
them to know it.''
Watchtower comments ...
''Intimacy with Jehovah.'' Why, the very idea
seems beyond comprehension for imperfect humans! Yet, Jehovah invites those who fear him to be guests in his tent. (Ps. 15: 1-5) And what does Jehovah do for his guests? He causes them to know his covenant, according to David. Jehovah confides in them, revealing his ''confidential matter'' to the prophets, so that they could know what their purposes are and what they must do to live in harmony with them. (Amos 3:7) Truly, it is heartwarming to that we imperfect humans can become intimate companions of the Most High, Jehovah God. In fact, he urges us to do just that. ''Draw close to God, and he will draw close to you,'' says the Bible. (Jas. 4:8) The ransom sacrifice of Jesus has opened the door for us so that we can have a friendship with Almighty God.---I John 4:19. w8/1/05 16-18
My comments ...
I thought perhaps reading what David sang in Ps. 15:1-5 might be a nice idea ...:read:
15 O Jehovah, who will be a guest in your tent?
Who will reside in your holy mountain?
2 He who is walking faultlessly and practicing righteousness
And speaking the truth in his heart.
3 He has not slandered with his tongue.
To his companion he has done nothing bad,
And no reproach has he taken up against his intimate acquaintance.
4 In his eyes anyone contemptible is certainly rejected,
But those fearing Jehovah he honors.
He has sworn to what is bad [for himself], and yet he does not alter.
5 His money he has not given out on interest,
And a bribe against the innocent one he has not taken.
He that is doing these things will never be made to totter.
How comforting are these words ...
I'm not sure if I can express myself completely as I'd like on this but I can't help but consider verse 1 for a bit ...
O Jehovah, who will be a guest in your tent?
Who will reside IN your holy mountain?
When I read this verse I found my mind going straight away to Revelation 21: 2,3 ...
2 I saw also the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God and prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: “Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his peoples. And God himself will be with them.
Now, whether or not there is a 'connection' the imagery is certainly similar is it not ...?
Yes, just WHERE is this 'holy mountain' ... this 'tent' ... and is it possibly 'New Jerusalem' that is being spoken about here ...?
It would appear that it is on the earth ... as an earthly hope is what David would have been thinking about wouldn't he ...?
And did not David express those who would 'reside' in this 'holy mountain' would be those that were walking according to God ways and who was true and loyal in their hearts ...:heartbeat:
Now one thing I DID notice ...:( in the Watchtower's comments was regarding the 'new covenant' ...
I found it 'interesting' HOW they mention the 'new covenant' here ...
He causes them to 'KNOW' his covenant, according to David.
Yes, 'knowing' the covenant is NOT the same as being IN IT is it ...? Or am I reading it correctly ...?
Isn't is wonderful to KNOW that we ARE in it ... and that ALL of mankind has the opportunity of benefiting from it DIRECTLY and not INDIRECTLY through a 'slave class' ...?
Sorry just had to add that ...
Anyway ... hopefully there will be some comments on my questions and observations ... for I think there is a lot of 'meat' in this chapter of Psalms and hubby is ready to go to town to do some errands so I can't expound much more for now !! :eat:
Luv as always ... gotta run for now ... Br :sheepy: :bouncyhearts:
