I don't know about you all - but I really miss having a chat box where we can just pop in and say hi to everyone at once and share a little of our day.

There was a complaint a while back that we don't share our personal lives with each other, and for the most part that's true. We know so much more about each other's spiritual thoughts than we do of the everyday things - and those things count too! There's also the constraint of time that prevents us from writing to everyone we wish to keep in contact with - at least for me it seems so. And I don't want to start a new thread whenever I have a little bit of nothing to say - so maybe we can continue this thread like a chat box? I would really like to get to know so many here better and get to know about your lives - the ups and downs and ins and outs that make you - you.Heartbeat

OK - here's my day so far. Rodney(my hubby) has been working a little overtime - so that means we get up at the ungodly hour of 3:30 AM and he's off to work at 4 to get there - 25 miles away - by 5. Wow is that early! I always check in here and have a cuppa coffee - today I went back to sleep for another 2 hours! Sleepy

I clean intern housing at a local college part-time in the summer and today, I think, I cleaned the last apartment. Good thing too - as I was rinsing the tub surround, my feet slipped backwards and I slid down to my knees - but my right arm was still extended and it got over-extended - it hurts! I guess I pulled a muscle - not the bicep, but an inner muscle from the bicep up to the shoulder - in the front. It coulda been worse but it still hurts Whine and it's weak(I have to hold it with my left hand to get it from the keyboard to the mouse - ouch!) I finished cleaning the apartment with no other mishaps. Didn't think it was so bad till I got in my car to come home - oh boy, shifting about killed me! I've got a 2001 Chevy Cavalier Z24 - 5 speed. I really really wanted an automatic but the gas mileage is so much better with a standard. It's cute too - indigo blue with a bumper magnet that my daughter, Melanie, got me last year - "I pray that God isn't too picky" - lol. Giggle

But this puts a crimp in things because I wanted to finish making some cement stepping stones today and now I can't bear the thought of trying to stir cement! Oh well, I'll find something to do - there's always something! I do have some banana peppers to can. I'm a real Susie Home Maker here - haha. Tomatoes await me in the garden too - juice-making is on the agenda tomorrow - my arm will probably feel lots better by then. Pray There's grapes to make into jelly too - and a friend at work sent Rodney home with a 20 lb. head of cabbage! I'm not kidding - 20 lbs! It's a monster. I plan to make some cabbage rolls to freeze with the big outer leaves, then some freezer slaw - lots of it! See, I told ya - there's always something to do around here!

Right now, though, I can't wait till Rodney gets home so I can have him rub my arm and let him feel really sorry for me! He's so good at that.Cheekkiss

There ya go - a little piece of me and my world, so un-exciting and yet so eventful! If anything, a peek into my life will make you ever-so grateful for yours! Wink You're welcome - glad to help!

Friends I love you all so much and hope to hear from each and every single one of you, my brethren. I look so forward to knowing you each a little bit more - or a lot more - as much as you're willing and able to divulge. Secret So please 'holler' back Help or shout or chat - whatever!Clap

Hug Your sister and friend in Christ,
Willa
Peace
Great idea, Willa!

I'd tell y'all 'bout my day; but then I'd hafta...well, you know...

Hey Peacebaby... Flowerchild

I rejoice with you in your suffering! Blush

You know I've had lots of experience the last few years with that kind of pain... we just don't appreciate our appendages until we bang em up a little bit and then we realize how useful those fingers, toes, arms and legs are... I was with the chiropractor today for about 45 minutes... I'm doing much better but my hip just isn't hip, if you know what I mean... and he has to pop it back where it belongs...

We had a twister here saturday... it didnt' touch down but it got close enough to chew up some really big oak trees and tear down a bunch of electric lines and poles... I works through Saturday and Sunday and foggily woke up this morning wondering what happened to my weekend... felt like a Friday today so I know it will be a long long week.

I recently got a new truck... first new vehicle I've purchased in 17 years.... what was I thinking... a V8... $90 to fill er up... It will come in handy this winter in getting around in this wilderness, but everything has its price. Paperbag

We've put up some juice, peppers and pickles too... well, when I say we I mean she... but I smell it all when it was happening... Wink
I've been eating a lot of Bread, Butter and tomato sandwiches with bannana peppers salt and pepper.... mmm mmm good... I just love fresh garden food. Snack

I hope to recover soon from the weekend beating... thanks for your little story... gave me a smile

Hope your arm comes back to you soon... be patient.. and I know how difficult it can be to be a computer wizzard when you have those kinds of problems... Computerpunch

God bless

Hi my dear Willa,

Well, I have only sad things to report in my little life, but instantly forgot about them last Friday when a dear friend of mine lost his beloved daughter in a road accident in Sydney. She was run over by a garbage truck at 2 am last Friday. Her memorial was 3:30 this morning at the Sydney Opera House and I don't know how to be of any comfort at all. I've been beside myself ever since.
My little girl flew to CA from VA by herself two days ago and everything that possibly could go wrong went wrong. But this week I am on vacation as I am released from motherhood and wifehood for five days -- sleep will be nice.

Hope your muscles are back to normal. No more stunts okay.

Love you!
Bruny
Hi over there Willa,

You are a dear heart. Love

I agree we need to get to know one another in a personal way - and the day to day mundane stuff that happens.

I am a car freek and just recently traded in my sleek Tiburon for a french car, a little toot with a 1.6 engine, silver, semi automatic/semi manual and I'm having fun learning to drive it (scaring myself and others in the process), zipping in an out of tiny parking spots and most of all saving on petrol. Yipee!

My daughter is coming back to live with me after an absence of over 1 year and I'm gearing myself up for having my well ordered life turned topsy turvy Big Grin. We both have some adjusting to do with regards food, music and she tends to fall asleep with her TV on all night and I get up at 3-4 am to turn it off. And heaps of other things she does that I find strange. Never mind, I'm still a mum at heart and we'll work it out together.

Love,
Tessa
Wave Hi everyone! Great to hear from you all!

Gus - yer killin' me already - lol! I hope you have a wonderful and leisurely visit with your momma and family - that time spent is priceless. You most certainly do deserve it. Drinking

Jon - Your garden sounds great too - we've been scarfing down the BLT's and everything you can imagine made from zucchini, which is lots! We have 2 kinds of refrigerator pickles right now and they seem to go with every meal quite well - even breakfast for a little extra Zowee! Eat So far I've canned green beans and lots of 'em( and some Romano Italian beans that we just discovered we love), some jellies, peaches, corn and diced tomatoes. Put some stuff in the freezer too - getting to be pretty well stocked again.

Ah - the beloved chiropractor - I haven't been in so long and need to go. My hips also give me grief from time to time. I guess I was born with one hip a little above and forward of the other, so when my gait gets off and it looks like I'm walking with a wooden leg - I have to go.

Whoa - So glad the tornado didn't get you directly! Lots of free firewood though.
Rodney worked 6 hrs. each Saturday and Sunday and I know what you mean about a lost weekend. May be the first and last time he gets double-time, as they're not working this weekend - but he just loved making that amount of money per hour, even if it's a one off deal! Greedy

Bruny - oh dear girl - how very terrible and sad! Crybaby And you're so far away... you know how much your words of comfort do mean to your friend, even though you'd rather be able to hug and cry together. Life is so fleeting - and so moment by moment precious. *sigh* My niece just had what I thought was a miscarriage, but turns out she'd gone to the emergency room with stomach pains and they found out her baby had died... they had to induce labor and she had him stillborn - how very very sad our survivors' tales can be.Cry

I do hope you have time to relax a bit the next few days - you deserve it too.Friends

Tessa, dear heart!Happyheart Your car - and your driving! - sounds like a blast! My little car is pretty zippy too! Probably the only vehicle we'll ever buy brand new - we still can't believe we paid that much! Rodney's in the market for a different truck now and he's trying to be chintzy. He needs 4-wheel drive for the long hauls to work this winter - I worry so about that drive on icy roads. It's hard to find the right combination of what you want with gas efficiency at the right price, though.

I'm sure you and your daughter will figure it out... you just have to lay the law down, mum! Lol! Enjoy that 'honeymoon' period that comes before you actually get used to each other again - that's the best! After that it's the same ol' irritants on the same ol' nerves! You're such a sweetheart - how could she not get along with you??? Haha - mothers and daughters - oh what tales we have to tell - we should all write novels and say it's fiction... best sellers! Wink

Well - I spent a miserable night with my arm, shoulder and neck, and got about 3 hrs. sleep before the alarm this morning. I was searching for the Vicodin at around 2 - and that helped! Another around 6 am helped even more. I sorted through some clothes to add to my dd's porch sale this weekend, so I did get something done before 'nap time'! At least I got some sleep in. I can't believe how much it hurts! So those tomatoes had to stay in the garden one more day - they'll wait patiently for me or else! Tomatoed Even now, though, the arm's feeling a little stronger, so I'll be on the mend for the week probably. I'm so frail...lol. But I'm generally happy in life, or perhaps just deluded - got me a good man and a little piece of land... Giggle< I love that smilie!

I want to make some potato soup for supper tonite - with all kinds of added stuff - zucchini(of course!), onions, peppers, mushrooms, cheese, Polska kielbasa, rivels - served with hot biscuits - doesn't that sound yummy? Um hmmm! Licklips Hey - where's my muffin lady? Clap Lol!

Gotta go for now - you'll all be in my thoughts and prayers where you belong!Hug

Love Lots of love from your sister in faith, Willa
Peace
Hi Willa,

Keep up the good work. I don't have much to say, my life is fairly boring. I work alot to keep out of trouble. which in turns brings other types of trouble. Big Grin we can run. ...

if I find that I have anything to share. I will..

Peace to you,

Frank

ahh Love that is awfully nice Freyd Friends and here I am Willa--the Muffin Lady FriendsCheekkiss Actually I Do LOve to make muffins for people--a wonderful comfort food--and everybody Loves them...Eat..what a wonderful idea Willa. A discussion board should really foster close personal friendships as one of its main goals --I think Heartbeat....

I Love your life Willa--every little bit of it. I have a pretty simple life here at the top of the world. I live in a small cabin not exactly in the woods but pretty well surrounded by them with 2 ponds behind my home that I thoroughly enjoy. My newest addicition is my new little puppy Shadow who is 4 months old now as of september 2nd and is taking up a crazy amount of time. I work 3 1/2 days a week for a physician and have worked for him for a really loooong time. It's a pretty good job and affords me a more than normal amount of free time. I am not sure I'd do too good at working 5 days a week after this job. The challenge here is the weather and now the focus is being ready for the first snowfall which will come next month--everyone is talking about The Farmers Almanac which is predicitng a colder and snowier winter than normal--not so good.....It is a really simple little life but I consider it a pretty good one and have always thanked God for taking care of me. I think the things you are doing Willa sound amazing--yum yum--Happyheart and coffee and muffins on me Cheekkiss (corn muffins go with Everything xxxxx)

wow.... and yes, I remember Wolfie's Bistro too... could almost smell that stuff cooking... just like your soup PB

got called into work again at 1:00a.m. sort of like aftershocks... ones power lines fall and are put back up you have to contend with all of those tree limbs that "almost fell" the first time... a little breeze and here we go again... but you're right Willa, about the money... it is nice... it has been a while since I've had the opportunity to work this much... perhaps about December... most of my work is planning and computer work so I'm not out in the elements so much... but I often do a lot of driving from location to location...

Wifey is canning corn tonight... we had chops on the grill with fried green tomatoes and corn on the cob.... won't be long and the fresh suppers will be another memory...

So sorry about your pain Bruny... that is always sad news... I have a neighbor who lost their grandson of that age in their swimming pool a couple years back... flabergasted the whole neighborhood... there is not much you can say... we can only trust in God...

Tessa... you are a sweet mommy in a hot-rod? Now there you go setting the bad example for Aussie youth... Thumbup You could put that little car in the back of my truck and save on gas altogether!... and we'd be color coordinated! Funny Face

Thanks Willa Hibye

This is what Joyful and I were discussing about getting more connected to each other - too bad JOyful is missing - maybe she will be back and just having time out - i like her straight forward ness

I guess everyone is too busy to do this on pms - i tried to get to know a few people but they dont seem to respond back and keep the flow going - I guess they dont have the time - or maybe im just too boring - hehehe Big Grin

we had a moon eclipse last night - it was beautiful - i was in Brisbane when it started - and that was a bit hazy and not clear - then i drove down the coast to the countryside and it was very clear - lots of twinkling stars and shooting stars too - it was organgey red and when the shadow started to move away a sliver of white would shine through on one side - Jehovah and Jesus are amazing artists

I've wanted to do something like this since way back on Pathways. I thought the software for that improved version of the forum would let me pm multiple people at once, but it wouldn't. But... we had the shoutbox. A shoutbox is nice, especially for ones who are just checking in to read the latest Coffeeread and don't neccesarily feel compelled to post on any particular thread, Reading but want to say a quick 'Hi' to stay in touch with everyone. WaveHibye Some posted an encouraging scripture or the latest breaking media news (Miss you Loretta, Sandi, RiB, Dana, Darcy, eyesandears, Matt, Lynn, Anthony, Rebekah, Terri, Martha, PPCM, Teshome, MalkahJogging & all MIA's... Group Hug) I too hope Hitomi comes back and makes her place in this big extended family of God.Friends

Yeah... about that...Sorry I have been soooo busy the past couple of weeks. Redface Sorry to all you pm buds. Blush(both of ya Haha) There's a seasonal ebb and flow on a discussion forum that's out of sync between the northern and southern hemispheres. I'm not able, time-wise, to be on the computer as much in the summer as in the winter. Some people are taking vacations. SurfsupTanningCampFishing Brant was planning a great summer of biking and visiting relatives. Biker I hope everyone brings back pictures! Photo North America and UK/Europe/Asia/India is out of sync too, not seasonally but daily because of the time differences. Phone In the past I've so enjoyed talking to Vicky, Brian, Resolute, New Heart and BR on Skype once in a while - but something went awry there and it's not working right.Computerpunch
Any of us could always use the site's conference room once in a while - make a 'date' for type or voice chat. Some have had trouble downloading it, but it's been working fine for me.

And you are not boring! Time hasn't been on my side, but I've been wanting to ask you many questions about your life and family and job. You design and make clothes - how interesting! I come from a long line of seamstresses and love to sew. How wonderful that you're able to make a living doing something you love - I'd love to hear all about it! At one time I wanted to go into business making childrens clothes and particularly girls dresses - many moons ago now. The past few years I've mainly stuck to sewing for our home and quilting, but I still have all too many ideas for clothes! I've been thinking lately about maybe buying a quilting machine - there seems to be a need and I think it's something I could do well and enjoy doing. Bulb

The lunar eclipse was visible here too, about 5:30 - 7 yesterday morning - I walked out to the garden early and watched for a while. It was so still and nice and cool before the birds even woke up! At the half-way point it looked like just a cloud passing in front of it - except for that orange-ish glow you mentioned - lovely! It was the 2nd of the year here - sometimes lunar eclipses occur thrice in one year, but not visible to the entire planet. Amen, billy - Ultimate Supreme Untop-able Artists! Artist

That soup was great last night - don't know how I'll top it tonight! Chef Hey Jon - oh, yeah - love them green fried tomatoes! I've found they stay crispier longer if you add some crushed cornflake crumbs to the breading - ever tried it? Licklips

You're right, wolfie - corn muffins or bread does go with everything! Rodney has taken to wanting a 'corn pone' every time I fix chili - sometimes I add chopped onions and melt sharp cheddar on top. Eat I love the sound of your simple life on the edge of the Great Woods at the top of the world too, sis - we're just country girls cut from the same homespun cloth! Love And we all love hearing about your life and especially about your best canine friend, da Shadow. Wolfsmile

freyd, you can post some of your 'famous' breakfast menus here - and don't forget the bacon, ham - and grits! Drool Now my stomach's growling!

My arm is still sore, but a better than yesterday - one day at a time. Need a little more sleep tho' - Rodney misread the clock this am and plugged the coffee pot in at 2:15! Beatoverhead

Later gators(haha Thinking Man!)
Much love to you all, Willa

PeaceBaby

Hey Wolfie... did n't see you here yesterday... we must have been posting at the same time... good to see you here... this thread had your name written all over it...

good to hear shadow is doing fine... skyler say hey.. we'll mostly he says "bark bark"... but that means "hey" in dog talk...

no sign of winter around here... 95 today... though it has been cool at night. I planned on getting up to view the eclipse but my sleeps been so fouled up I forgot to even look up....

Hi Billy... enjoyed your post too...
