''We have the prophetic word
made more sure: and you are doing
well in paying attention to it
as to a lamp shining in a dark place.'' 2 Peter 1:19.......

''If I find myself in a situation where changes seem hard to accept,'' admits one longtime elder, ''I reflect on Peter's words to Jesus: ''Lord, whom shall we go away to?'' Then I ask myself, ''Where shall I go away to--out there into the darkness of the world?'' This helps me to hold firmly to God's organization. (John 6:68) The world around us is certainly in dense darkness. As Jehovah continues to shed light on his people, the gap between them and those of the world keeps on widening. What does this light do for us? Well, just as shining a spotlight on a pothole on a dark roadway does not remove the hole, light from God's Word does not remove pitfalls. Yet, divine light surely helps us to avoid them so that we can continue walking in the path of increasing light.'' (w2/15/06 21,22b)

Ah yes I remember this study article and took note of something that the Society continues to do over and over to put into our brothers' and sisters' minds the idea that it isn't to WHOM we should go but rather WHERE we should go ...:(:readthis: and it is sad that this ELDER cannot seem to even distinguish the difference ... and will no doubt instill this false belief in the flock in his care ...:(

Yes, let GOD'S WORD be our BRIGHT SHINING LIGHT ... a light that will brighten up even the darkest patches of our lives as we continue to navigate through the end of this wicked world system of things cast into darkness by Jehovah's foremost opposer Satan the Devil.

I would like to stop and think for a moment about how we would feel to be surrounded by dense darkness ... perhaps we are lost in the woods ... or perhaps the electricity goes out in our homes at night ...:huh::scared:

What is our first emotions ...? Are they 'positive' ones ...?

I would think that for most of us the feelings we would experience would be such things as fear, panic, confusion, uncertainty, caution ...

The other day the power went out in our home and it was so dark one couldn't see ahead of them ... causing us to GROPE and FEEL our way in the dark ... going SLOWLY so as to not trip and stumble over anything or break something ...

Is that not somewhat how our God describes those who are in spiritual darkness ... are they not groping along trying to find their way out of the confusion and darkness of so many teachings and beliefs that go contrary to what our God and his Son have taught us ...

Then what happen when we see a light through the darkness ...? Or the lights come back on ...?:dancebanana::excited:

Are we not immediately relieved and comforted and feel a sense of safety and security ...? We no longer have to grope with hands outstretched or feet scarcely moving but can walk with assurety and confidence knowing what is ahead ... both the safe way and the unsafe way and walk accordingly ...

So, too with the LIGHT OF THE WORLD that we have if we recognize it shining above us and in us ... that of Christ Jesus and the things he taught us to believe and put trust in!!

May we never take this light for granted ... for it is so beautiful and sustaining for us as we seek to walk in the footsteps of our Lord and exemplar.

With this 'light' we need never fear of a 'power failure' ... for just as Jehovah is continually with us ... so our Lord promised he would be with us as well did he not ...:cheer:

So, as we look to this bright and warm light ... let it reflect itself in our hearts so that we will never be without it ...!!:heartbeat::thumbup:

Luv to all ... BR :sheepy: :bouncyhearts:
