Note: This is not a thread about whether or not Christians should engage in hunting for food or sport.

As a matter of personal reseach I'm trying to determine individuals who were considered as hunters in the Bible.   The only examples that I'm coming across are:

Nimrod (Gen 10:9)
Esau (Gen 27:27)
Ishmael (Gen 21:20)

Does anyone know of any other individuals that engaged in hunting, good or bad?

Thank you.
The Devil sets snares. 1Tim. 3:7 and 2Tim 2:26.
It has been suggested he is the birdcatcher in Psalms.

Jer. 16:16 hunters and fishers are sent out to regather the lost of Israel. We are meant to be fishers of men.
The dragnet pulls up good and bad fish, the bad being rejected.
Morning Anthony,

Just a couple of thoughts:

Jer 16:16  Behold, I will send for many fishermen, says Jehovah, and they will fish them. And afterwards I will send for many hunters, and they will hunt them from every mountain and from every hill, and out of the holes of the rocks.

Mat 13:41  The Son of Man shall send out His angels, and they shall gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and those who do iniquity,

In a sense Angels do some hunting as their commission... for a good purpose..

Mat 24:31  And He shall send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather His elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other[b]

Mar 1:17  And Jesus said to them, Come after Me and I will make you fishers of men.

We get to do a little hunting ourselves... For the good fish.

When spoken of as a hunter in the Bible (man hunting animals) The people listed were ones not known to have the qualities of Jesus, but instead, are spoken of as fleshly.

Yet, when given a commission to "hunt" or gather by the Father, it becomes spiritual..

Genesis 9:1-3 : "Then God blessed Noah and his sons, saying to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the earth. The fear and dread of you will fall upon all of the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air, upon every creature that moves along the ground, and upon all the fish of the sea; they are given into your hands. Everything that lives and moves will be food for you. Just as I gave you the green plants, now I give you everything."
Leviticus 17:13
" 'Any Israelite or any alien living among you who hunts any animal or bird that may be eaten must drain out the blood and cover it with earth,

Samuel 26:20
Now do not let my blood fall to the ground far from the presence of the LORD. The king of Israel has come out to look for a flea—as one hunts a partridge in the mountains."
