I find it sad that he did not apologize to the girl or her family for what he had done - but then that would be an admission of guilt and he said during trial that he did nothing wrong.
Outside court, he also criticized leaders of the congregation for being "completely uncooperative" with police during their investigation.
"It's certainly not the position of the congregation to harbour people who sexually take advantage of children -- absolutely not," he said.
Defence lawyer James Marentette argued Martin paid a heavy price for the brief fondling incident after being stripped of his leadership responsibilities with the Bridgeport congregation of the church.
"Brief fondling incident"????? Might have been brief for him, but for this girl and her family, it will remain with them for the rest of their lives. This from a man that has had other allegations brought against him, and has admitted to a problem masturbating while sexually fantasing about young girls.
If they are not harbouring a sex offender, they why were they so uncooperative during the investigation? (JW's are not supposed to be clergy, but they fall back on their "pastoral role"). They have no problem telling their memebers to break confidentialty agreements at their work place if they find out that a fellow JW has done something wrong, but the elders cannot co operate with the police to put away a sex offender, to keep the congregation clean???
If they are not harbouring a sex offender, why is he still a member of the congregation. He only lost his position, not his membership.
He is not able to go where children gather - what about the KH, the Assembly halls and the DC?
I hope the parents in the congegation make it known to watch out for this man!

Sorry for ranting, I could say so much more, this kind of thing really makes me mad!!
He ought to be taken out and shot.
If more of that were to happen, there would be fewer "brief fondling incidents."

Hi Gus, Gotta love your humor bro. But I agree with your statement, stoning would be too good for him.your sis. in the way Chris:thumbup:
What's so disturbing is this comment ...
Instead, he apologized to Justice Michael Epstein for his demeanour during the trial and expressed regret that the victim and her family have left the church.
Isn't that special? He regrets they left the WT. What a swell little perve.
Is this how we love this enemy?
What is this was a setup? Not probable...but, what if it was???

Hello all
All I have to say is UGG!  Of course no apology!  He has been an elder, they are not taught to apologise.
Watcher,  Sympathy and Indignation for an obvious victim, who did not even recieve an apology is not lack of love, in all reality it is hatred for what is bad, and loving what is good.
I still have love for those who abused me.  I even understand their sicknesses, and feel sorrow for them.  Yet hatred for their actions.

This happened to a cousin of mine....not only did she leave the organization, but now she is a practicing witch belonging to a coven.

It is not my enemy, Jim. It is the enemy of the human race.
Sometimes, Jim, love for the victim and future victims demands action. The world isn't a pretty place. This "thing" (I can't call it a man, much less a Christian elder), used its position of trust to gain access to children to indulge its perversion. The shepherd became the predator. It's more than unfortunate...it's a crime against humanity...and I believe that if capital punishment is fine for a mad dog, it is adequate for this thing.
There are times, old friend, where the rest of the world can't bear the burden of, much less indulge, "its" misery any longer. Understand that I am speaking unemotionally with respect to this criminal. As far as I'm concerned, the thing committed suicide when it killed the spirit of a young child. It'll get its second chance in the resurrection.
