I have mentioned before that once, a long time ago, or so it seems, I followed the Wiccan belief, and though I no longer follow it, I do remember one thing that I started wondering about just the other night. In it I was always told that all Gods were one God, just with different faces that we name. The Great Spirit of the Native Americans, Allah, even God, I was told were all the same, simply different faces named in different manners because of language and cultures. I know it probably sounds like a weird question and I hope it doesn't offend anyone here, but I want to know what people's thoughts on this were. I think that some Gods in history was probably the children of the sons of god that made up the legends and heroes in myth. But others, the major belief structures that have the same fundamental and core values, could they not be one just named differently? :read:

Dear Serafina,

You know, I think you need to be more specific with your questions.  Seems to me, you are mixing mythology with reality.  The only "same fundamental and core values" that different peoples from different countries and time periods have in common is to worship something greater than themselves.  Some of our Native American Indians may have been closer than the rest, due to the fact that they prayed to the "Creator."  That at least separates the God of the Universe, YHWH (Jehovah, in English) from all the rest of the gods. If they were all the same God, would He really need to be called by different names?  Would He tell us what His name is and send His Son to instruct us to pray for that name to be santified if it meant the same and was equal to all the rest?  Most of these so-called names are really only titles meaning God, i.e., Allah, which does not identify which God you're referring to.  As for the "legends and heroes," those were the offspring of fallen angels who became demons by virtue of their unnatural acts to the daughters of man.

That's my two cents anyway, for what it's worth, which is not much.
