Over on the old paradise cafe we had some links to some great stuff. They got lost in the move. Hopefully you all will enjoy these for the first or second time.

The Inner Life of the Cell was designed for Harvard students to appreciate the marvellous work of our bodies on a cellular level. The animation is superb!

There is a little "full screen" button to the far right of the volume control; don't forget to hit it for the best view.

The Inner Life of the Cell (short with music)

This is the short version, set to music. There is a longer one with narration.

The Inner Life of the Cell (with explanation)

Love, Rez

PS to Willa and others on dial-up: Yes! it is worth the download time....especially the one with music.

PPS....I've updated the links (May 23, 2009)
For those of you with children and/or grandchildren to teach, here is a wonderful animated aid...it's called "The Watchmaker".

The Watchmaker

Ahhhh come on....the grownups will love it too! :D

Love, Rez :giverose:

PS....don't forget to hit the full screen button on your computer keyboard (usually F11)

Hi Rez, and just to add, Cosmic Zoom was a French film I used to rent from NFB whenever I gave the public talk (I forget the exact name) Is There a Creator Who Cares? At any rate, even back then during our rather primitive beginnings of animation, the micro/macro zoom combination took you on an 8 minute flight from a boy rowing a boat on a lake to the furthest reaches of the universe, zooming in again to a mosquito on the boys arm and on into the furthest microscopic reaches known to man. Although it took a lot of extra time and energy, renting a 16mm projector and screen and hauling it around to KH's it was worth the 8 minutes to introduce the talk.
Love sw

btw, the complete version of what you posted is the better one for me and all those who love to get buried in technical jargon.

The Inner Life of the Cell - Full Version

Hey, SW:hibye:

I well remember that old film "Cosmic Zoom". It was pretty great for its time and actually inspired the title of this thread. I wish it was available on U-tube.

As for the two versions of "The Inner Life of the Cell", the short speedy one with the music has a greater emotional impact for this bear. I still appreciate the longer narrated one for the info. That is why I posted both links. It's ALL amazing! :D

Love, Rez:giverose:

PS.....BTW, if you ever find a downloadable version of that old film on the web...please let me know.
Well, guess what! U-tube has a modern production that is very close to the old "Cosmic Zoom". It's called "Cosmic Journey". The sound is a little low but the quality is pretty good. ....great in full screen!

Cosmic Journey

I updated the link (May 23, 2009)

Rez....still rolling:

Journey into Space

:cheer:
It is good when you get on a roll. Love the films.
Hi Peeps, am I missing something? Where's the links?
Thanks Vicky! Now we really must find a U-tube video on Lizard smuggling. [hmmmm.....FOUND a good Lizard one....will post it in the "Funny Bone"]

E-mag, just hover your mouse on the name of the video till you see the little pointy-finger. The links are disguised as titles. For example, on my last post the link is Journey into Space. Sorry!
